1-3B and 1-3C: How did you do?

Pathfinder Adventure Card Society

Getting close to 1-4 (and juicy role cards and scary Umbral Dragons).

1-3B was bad for me, as I have no skills that help with Feeding Time. So I have to prepare a sacrificial Ally for it (sorry poor Wanderer!). Your sacrifice will be remembered. Otherwise it was fairly uneventful, except for the fact that we somehow forgot to take the good Captain with us.

1-3C was bad for the CD Kyra that PrisonerSix played with. So obviously he ends up taking one. Also, we used the same trick of closing a location and kicking all the monsters we don't like (and some boons we don't like either) over. By the way, there were 2 Demonic Hordes and 2 Arboreal Blights in the stacks - but we only encountered 1. Luckily. But we had to encounter it twice because our Rogue decided not to get weapons until his second turn (8th turn in total) and got a Demon. But otherwise it was fairly straightforward. Mythic Champion helped a lot here - the Brimorak in the Abattoir had a +13 (+2 for a Villain displayed, +5 for number of players, +6 for AD x2) and the Mythic Charge negated it all.

Of course, just when the Allies in the Class Decks were getting interesting, we stop getting a ton of them. We passed Rallying Cry (!) because of a lucky Caravan Guard pull for our worst Charisma person. Too bad we got 5 B allies from it.

Oh by the way, "Cemetary" in the document is a typo (not sure if it's in the released document)

Ugh, I'll take the blame on that one. I thought-o that one pretty badly.

Did 1-3B on Tuesday. It went pretty smoothly, overall (once again, thanks to Meliski's rerolls). Meliski, CD Sajan, and CD Kyra cleared the board, and managed to miss the Arboreal Blight in the Abattoir (what were all those trees DOING in there that they couldn't be bothered to come out?!?!?). We had more AD3 Deck Upgrades available than we had players, which is at once an awesome problem to have, and yet feels like SUCH a waste.

Meliski picked up a Trident +2 'cause his two-handed weapon was no good with the Spiny Shield he sensed he may mysteriously find in the near future. Sajan managed (with team effort) to snag the Tomb of Mental Prowess because we forgot about the Removing Cards From Play rule (*pout*), but found an Ascetic's Belt which looks LOVELY with his Gi. And Kyra found an Evangelist amid the vampiric city (whew... Tough congregation) to join her flock.

Thanks—that'll be fixed next time we update the document for any reason.

Did 1-3C last night, and it was a bit tight for Sajan. If he hadn't achieved victory condition on the last turn (turn 14, first round after facing the first villain), he would have died.

As the resident Dexterity monkey, Sajan was tasked with handling Undarin Patrols (since nobody had Stealth, Perception, or Knowledge skills). We split up. Kyra entered the Abattoire (I hear Sarenrae doesn't require vows of chastity from her clergy...), Meliski entered the Occult Library, and Sajan sought out the Torture Chamber (Monk training and self-inflicted torture can be difficult to tell apart, after all). Meliski faced and defeated a Mist Horror which escaped to the Cathedral of Chaos. The two monsters guarding the entrance of the Cathedral were swept away, causing the Undarin Patrol in the area to step in to cover their watch. This made life MUCH easier later...

Sajan had a rocky start, mispronouncing "Calistria" as "Murphy", and failed to slip past the Undarin Patrol in the Torture Chamber, only to be soundly defeated by the Ivory Templar who blocked his retreat. He stopped to give Belthis Loumis directions to the Library, where Meliski charmed her right out of her Gossamer Shroud. Kyra's blessings made Sajan whole again (mostly because he'd recharged EVERY WEAPON IN HIS DECK when he failed to defeat the Ivory Templar and needed to shuffle something fierce), and when the Patrol returned, Sajan slipped past, sealing the Torture Chamber with only mild mental scarring.

Meliski, meanwhile, eluded the Patrol in the Library, (inspired by the Banner of Valor Sajan planted by the entrance) and used arcane knowledge acquire from years pouring over cigar wrappers to seal its doors. The shifting of air caused by the massive doors closing pulled a sheet of vellum from the shelves, which landed at Meliski's feet, showing him the way of charming beasts to join him in battle. Vellum, apparently, makes a lousy cigar wrapper.

Kasiya arrived for no better purpose than to unleash vescavors everywhere (which ate Kyra's longsword, while Meliski crushed them with his bare hands) and heckle everyone, making things difficult, even after a firm Kama-ing from Sajan. Fortunately, there was little left to do. Sajan carried his Banner into the Cathedral of Chaos and was immediately faced by the Undarin Patrol therein. Even Kasiya's annoying rendition of "99 Potions of Haste on the Wall" did not help the patrol spot Sajan: Mythic Champion (as they were too distracted by how pretty the Banner was). He closed the portals to the Cathedral and broke off his Kama in the lock.

Kyra, loudly spreading the Light of the Dawnflower around the Abattoire (too... many... jokes) had attracted the notice of the last of the Undarin Patrols. Lacking the skills to escape their notice long enough to defeat the Brimorak holding the door key, she left and waited by the sealed door of the Occult Library, while Meliski moved to a covering position behind a gauzy curtain in the Abattoire. Sajan threw his Banner over the heads of the patrol, slipped past them, and one-shotted the Brimorak with his Venemous Fighting Fan (+1!), (to the great amusement of Deskari, who granted his corrupt blessing) and everyone left before Yavalliska could show up with his freaking Blood Demon, which we'd all thought we were done with after we made it back to Kenabres, dangit.

Erastil evidently owed Deskari from a poker game, so Sajan ended up with Erastil's blessing in the end, while Meliski swapped Belthis' (unwashed) shroud to an elderly pervert for a Spiny Shield. Kyra sought no reward for her heroics.

So, reading over the text for 1-3C, nothing says that you should actually ENCOUNTER the Villains. It just says to display them, causing all difficulties to increase. Since one does not, by default, encounter anything coming off of the Blessings deck, I should think that perhaps the Scenario text could use a wee edit. Unless you're actually not meant to encounter Kasiya nor Yavalliska...

Pathfinder ACG Developer

The villains in 3C are in the blessing deck, and are displayed when discarded which adds to the difficulty of _all_ checks when it happens (They are present in the city and sound the alarm to find you, which makes everything more stressful). You fight them both in 3D.

Grand Lodge

Wait. So you don't actually ENCOUNTER them in 1-3C?!??!?

Pathfinder ACG Developer

Nope, not at all in 3C. It's more of a puzzle shuffling around stuff while fighting the clock.

Grand Lodge

Well then. I don't think there would have been any different outcomes, all told, but I guess we did more work than we needed to.
