So I am wanting to run a theurge with a faerie dragon familiar (via
the Eldritch Heritage[Arcane] feat) and i was trying to figure out the extent to which my familiar can make use of its UMD skill such what items are applicable for it to use and also if it can wear magic items of any kind. Any info is greatly appreciated cause i can't find a ruling anywhere in the source books.

It can use magic items and UMD just like any other intelligent creature.
As far as magic item slots goes, there is a table in Animal Archive that shows what creature bodies have what slots. According to PFS (not sure if that's what you're playing) Faerie Dragons belong to the Biped (hands) group which means they have all of the slots you do.

*Note: The Animal Magic Item Slots table found on the inside front cover of the book is not legal except under the following conditions. First, an animal companion, familiar, or bonded mount, may choose one slot listed under its body type when taking the Extra Item Slot feat (this feat may be taken multiple times, each time selecting a different available magic item slot based on the creature's anatomy). Second, access to specific magic item slots may be granted at a later date by another legal source.
Basically they need a feat to get more than thois elisted int he guide to org play. They get a neck slot pretty much only.
