Hello everyone, hope you are having a great day (or night, depending on where the F%&/ you are :D)
Recently i came up with an idea for a hybrid class combining the sorcerer and oracle, the main idea behind it was to have a class focused on the powers granted by both the magic in his blood and the mysterious mysteriousness of his mystery, while sacrificing most of his spellcasting ability as a result of these two forces clashing inside of him.
Now, this is still a very basic approach to it, but i wanted to share it to hear what other players would like to see from this class, and what their thoughts are on balance (can't say i have much experience balancing things like this).
So, here's the very first draft of the class:
The Conduit

4+INT skills per level
Class skills: bluff, craft, diplomacy, heal, intimidate, K. arcana, K. religion, profession, sense motive, spellcraft, use magic device.
Mysterious bloodline: at 1st level a conduit chooses a mystery and a bloodline. at 1st level, he gains either a revelation or the bloodline's 1st level power, at second level he gains the one he didnt choose then. After that, Conduits gain revelations and bloodline powers at the same level as a sorcerer/oracle of their level. He also gains his bloodline arcana, but not bloodline feats.
The conduit adds all skills granted by both his bloodline and mystery as class skills, if both give him a skill twice, he adds it as a class skill and gains a +1 bonus to it.
Cantrips and orisons: Conduits can learn both cantrips and orisons, they learn a number of them equal to an oracle/sorcerer of their level.
Spells: Conduits dont learn spells normally like other classes do, instead, they only know those spells granted to them by their bloodline or mystery. they can cast this spells a number of times per day as an oracle/sorcerer of their level. spells granted by their mystery are considered to be divine, while those granted by their bloodline are considerer arcane. His casting stat is CHA.
Entwined magic: Whenever the Conduit casts a spell granted by both his mystery and his bloodline, he can choose to either:
-Increase the spell's Caster level by 1
-Increase the spell's DC by 1
Improved Entwined magic: at 5th level, a Conduit can, once per day, reduce the total cost of metamagic feats applied to a spell granted by both his bloodline and his mystery by 1. he can use this ability an aditional time per day for every 5 additional levels (4 times at level 20)
And... that's basically it, at least for now before i realize how broken it is, either powerful broken or weak broken XD. my main concerns with the class are:
-Curses: i thought about adding curses to it to give him a drawback, but after a few levels all curses give big benefits, so im worried it'd be too much power at mid-high levels. Another option would be giving this class it's own curses, though i still dont know what kind of beneficial things he could gain from those without it being too much.
-Skills: another thing that worries me is the amount of class skills they would gain. i've tried reducing the number of base class skills they gain but, lorewise, i cant find anymore i would be comfortable removing
-Personality: right now, the class is mostly an oracle and a sorcerer spliced, cutting only most spellcasting and givint it a couple of secondary abilities, which i dont feel like its enough to give the class its own feel and personality.
Now, with that said, i still love the idea of mixing and matching bloodlines and mysteries while sacrificing spells. sure, once you choose you are pretty much focused on one or two things, but the creation process is what i love, finding what revelations and powers combine gloriously (or hilariously). Besides, there are lots of classes (and players) who already know what to do from 1st to 20th level, so it wouldnt be that different.
What are your thoughts? would you play a class like this? is it too powerful? will Goku be able to defeat Frieza? is it too weak? what else would you like to see from this hybrid?
