A Question about Desecration

Rules Questions

I have a question about the second part of the desecrate spell. I found lots of info on the undead part of it but none on the ''Curse'' part.
The Spell Desecrate says:

''If the area contains an altar, shrine, or other permanent fixture of a deity, pantheon, or higher power other than your patron, the desecrate spell instead curses the area, cutting off its connection with the associated deity or power. This secondary function, if used, does not also grant the bonuses and penalties relating to undead, as given above.''

What does ''cutting off its connection with the associated deity or power.''Means? Do Clerics, Oracles, Paladins and so forth, loose their Spells and Abilities derived from their Gods, like spells, domain power or things like Divine Grace for a Paladin ? If so, it seems VERY nasty to me ...
Any thoughts ?

It just makes it not sacred anymore. For instance, if you are a cleric of Zon-Kuthon and cast desecrate in a temple of Sarenrae, the area no longer counts as sacred for certain purposes which include but are not limited to: gaining additional bonuses from consecrate, preventing corpses from being raised, preventing the area from being desecrated. It by no means cuts off the powers of divine characters.

Thank you, makes more sense, seemed a ''bit'' OP lol
