I have a large upcoming order that has split into 7 packages: 6 with one item each and one with 9 items (plus promo cards). This results in around $50 in shipping, which makes sense for 7 packages, but seems unlikely to compare favorably to the items being in 2 packages. Would it be possible to take a look and verify that the package-optimization algorithm didn't spiral out of control in this case?
