Question about allowing a Janni PC.

Legacy of Fire

So I wanna run Legacy of Fire for the firs time and one of my friends wants to play a re-imagining of her Genie character from Champions.

After some deliberation we decided to make her a Janni Bard with no Outsider HD but with the other Janni features intact.

This made me wonder if the Janni's Plane Shift ability might break the flow later on in the story as I know that Genies and The City of Brass play a major role.

Just need to know if I should allow her to keep the ability or not, that's all.

It won't cause a lot of problems, because the two parts of the adventure that would break under Plane Shifting block it off via the Forces of Plot anyway (because they're done at levels where a party could have Plane Shift accessible anyway).

On the other hand, the capacity to nip off to other planes, particularly given the Janni can survive for up to 24 hours on them with ease, will certainly alter the story (as the party can now fairly easily make contact with the Templars and/or Nefeshti right from first level).

I don't think it'll break the game, but it'll certainly alter the story. But no more so than just having the Janni, given that it changes genies and wishes from a rare and mystical element to something found in the average adventuring party.

I wouldn't include a Janni, myself, because I think it takes too much away from the meeting the genies elements of the story, but if you want to do it anyway, I wouldn't sweat the Plane Shift.

Alright, thanks.

Make her a Suli, which is basically a half-janni, half human.
