GM Credit at home games?

Pathfinder Society

3/5

Hello all!

I'm a new GM and I've read the Guild Guide, but it is still not clear to me. I've searched google to find no answer.

If I'm running an official Pathfinder Society adventurer (or one of the sanctioned modules/adventurer) in Golarion, with all the official rules and characters built to play in any other Pathfinder Society games, will I get credit as a GM?

TL;DR - Does a GM get credit for home games within Golarion, using the approved scenarios/modules?

Also, I understood my players will get everything - XP, gold and chronicle sheet items. Am I right?

Sorry I have so much questions. If it's not the right place to post it I'm sorry, just seems like other questions regarding those subjects were posted here.

Thanks ahead! :)

Short answer: Yes, if they follow all the rules in the guide.

Longer answer: If you run a currently available PFS scenario (there are a few that have been retired) and follow the PFS rules as expressed in the Pathfinder Society Guide to Organized Play you are free to run a legal PFS game.

When a GM runs a game that they have not yet received a GM chronicle for then they are able to get a chronicle for that game.

Hopefully this helps out!

Also keep in mind, I think all of your players have to be playing for credit and using society legal characters.

Except for campaign mode, which is another ball of wax (and can only be used for APs and certain modules).

If you're running sanctioned PFS material with PFS legal characters by PFS campaign rules then you earn PFS credit. Even if you are playing a private game within your home. All you have to do is create an event on the Paizo website, there are options for private games, and report the results.

You can't earn PFS credit for any material that you create yourself, or for games that use characters or rules that aren't PFS legal. Except for certain modules and Adventure Paths that allow a home game mode.

A couple of clarifications:

As a GM, you can apply a chronicle sheet for a PFS scenario or sanctioned module/AP to one of your own characters, as though they had played through the game with full success.

For players: They can gain the gold (as modified by missed encounters or materials not located), XP, and access to purchase the items listed on the chronicle.

Note that the boons, usually listed up top, with conditions listed during the scenario as to how to qualify to receive the boon, are applied to the PC who earned the boon.

Some boons are only available for members of a certain faction, others require certain actions taken during the scenario, and some, indeed, are negative boons, things you don't want to get, for the most part.
