Prerequisite(s): Precise Shot.
Benefit(s): You initiate this feat as a standard action, making a ranged attack against a foe engaged in melee with at least one abettor. This shot deliberately forsakes normal precautions, putting your abettor at risk, but also is unexpected enough to surprise your mutual opponent.
You gain a +2 bonus on your attack roll if the attack passes through an abettor's space. If your shot misses the target, you must immediately make a second attack roll with all the same modifiers against the abettor, potentially hitting her with the attack instead of the opponent. When the attack resolves (regardless of whether either potential target was hit), the intended target's startled reaction provokes an attack of opportunity from the abettor.
My question: For take the attack of opportunity the melee ally nedd to take this talent as well as the ranged one?

I expect so, since it's teamwork. Note the last line is the friend gets an attack of opportunity, so they benefit as well from this.
I wonder if the +4 AC then for cover due to firing through an ally's square even applies at all? Since the fluff text states you are putting your friend in danger.
edit: This also describes who must take the feat:

An inquisitor can grant the feat to his teammate, but only as an abettor (the one shot at). He can't force his friend to be shot at.

and the key part:
All of these feats refer to an initiator and an abettor. The initiator is the one activating the feat (also referred to as “you”) and the abettor is an ally who also has the feat and whose presence and (perhaps unwilling) sacrifice allows the feat to take effect.
