Unchained Mutagen?

Homebrew and House Rules

If you had to Unchain an Alchemist's Mutagen like an Unchained Barbarian's Rage, how would you do it? Mostly to remove the math from the equation.

Probably exactly like they did the Unchained Barbarian.

When an alchemist brews a mutagen, he selects one physical ability score, Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution. Upon being imbibed, it grants a +2 alchemical bonus to natural armor and to all checks related to the selected ability score (skill checks, attack rolls, damage rolls, ability checks, etc.) for 10 minutes per alchemist level. If Dexterity is selected, he also gains a +2 dodge bonus to AC. If Constitution is selected, he also gains 2 temporary hit points per hit die he possesses. In addition, when the mutagen takes effect, he takes a -1 penalty on all checks related to one of his mental ability scores. If the mutagen applies to Strength, this penalty applies to Intelligence. If the mutagen applies to Dexterity, this penalty applies to Wisdom. If the mutagen applies to Constitution, this penalty applies to Charisma.

I'd rather unchain ability scores or change the language to something like: "You receive a +1 alchemical bonus to your Strength modifier" instead of "you receive a +2 alchemical bonus to Strength."
