How bad would it be to play part 3 before parts 1 and 2? Both story/plot/spoilerwise as well as boon/chronicle sheet reward-wise? I know some series are more sensitive to such out-of-order play than others. Thanks!

There are no special boons for playing all 3 parts.

There would be some plot spoilers, but nothing too terrible.

Pretty much this. If you play part three before the others, be mindful of others, as part three completely spoils the first two parts.

Oh, so there are big plot spoilers? I thought 'nothing too bad' meant not so much so. Is it stuff I would need to actively avoid metagaming on?

Pretty much, to summarize it without spoiling, in the first two parts the party is searching for something and in part three they find it. It's a little more complicated than that, but I don't want to spoil anything.

Ok, thank you. I'm not sure if it's worse to play them out of order or not play 3 at all, I'll think on it.

I would just play them out of order rather than miss out on a part of it. It shouldn't ruin your experience. Part three is a pretty fun scenario.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I would say, think about it like Star Wars. If you watch Return of the Jedi first, you'll know that there's a second Death Star and that Luke eventually fights Darth Vader. If you then went back and watched A New Hope, you'd know how it all ended (and know what some of the foreshadowing meant), but it wouldn't make the Battle at Yavin less interesting to watch.

Overall, the scenarios are written in such a way that they're accessible to people that play them out of order.

Great, thanks for the help!

This is a better way of putting it than I was able to articulate!
