Converting Season of Shackles to home play

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

Does anyone have any advice for altering the Season of the Shackles Adventure Paths for home play? It's apparent that the instructions for Season of the Shackles were intended for for Guild Play, and built for players who may not be present for every adventure. However, I'd like to use them to run a new game of the standard adventure game with a buddy inbetween our games of Wrath with out larger group. Do Roles really need to wait until the end of the 4th Adventure to come out?

They changed it to after Adventure 3. You'll want to download the PDFs again; there were a few tweaks here and there.

Were you going to use the Guild deck rules (deck upgrades from Class Decks) or the main game ones (keep what you find from the box)? If you switch, I'm assuming you'd just switch all the Loot rewards to standard-style ones. (Enjoy having all the AD2 Loot dumped on you at the end of Adventure 2. :)

I'd expect it to hold up OK either way.

They're planning a major revision for Season of the Shackles to put it in line with the new Tier system. After that happens, it may be much more difficult to covert the AP for standard home play. However, until that happens, as Parody said one of the only things you'd really need to change is just give out loot cards in the standard way instead of using the temp replace system. Also, the weirdly worded extra skill feat given in Scenario 0-4A, "during any one encounter in this Adventure Path, gains 1 skill feat" was originally the genie loot card Vailea. It was changed because of potential complications that could come up in OP. You should probably just gain her as a standard loot card instead. Nothing else really comes to mind that you should consider changing.

It won't be hard at all—you'll just want to make sure you gain the feats that the tiering system gives you as you complete scenarios and adventures.

Right now it's just my buddy and me playing two characters through 0-1A to 0-1E. At C we ended up adding an extra location, and it upped the challenge without being overwhelming. Otherwise, it translates over to home play pretty well. That's not to say I don't miss the Fleet cards; it was nice having an armada all of your own.
