One of my players started a line of questions near the end of Book 1 that had me wondering, what exactly does most of the populace in this area know?
1. How much do they know about the Rain of Stars? A lot of information can be lost in 9000+ years.
2. Do they know that what fell was a single ship? One player has a theory that there was a fleet.
3. Do they know if there were any survivors? Certainly some non-Androffans survived... is there any reason to believe that the original crew didn't? There's other theories that some of the "buildings" found could have been installations set up after they crashed.
There's lots of ways to disprove this. The fact that all of the access cards ever found all have the same name... I'm pretty sure the Technic League knows a lot more.
I guess I'm just wondering what the default assumption is for most people concerning the above. How much should I tell my player is just "known" info?

I believe the general populace doesn't know that it was a spaceship crewed by aliens from other planets. Or that technology is different than magic or that robots aren't the same thing as automatons. I mean, a lot of people don't even know to call robots robots, relying on "automatons" or "metal-men". They don't know what androids exactly are, other than that they came from the metallic dungeons that fell from the sky. Knowledge of survivors is limited, because, again, they don't even know there even was a crew.
But, knowledge will also greatly vary between settlements, regions, peoples. The inhabitants of Starfall probably know the rough nature of technology and that aliens come from beyond the solar system, maybe some basic terminology. However, members of the roaming Kellid tribes know next to nothing, they consider technology cursed, confuse it with magic (no thanks to the fact that it's most commonly used by Technic wizards), refer to robots as "metal-men", androids as "children of the stars", they know dirt. Torch knows more than the Kellid tribes, but has a tenuous grasp on the matter at best, save for a few individuals such as Khonnir and Trett. At least that's my take on it. Depending on where they are and who the PCs are talking to, they'll get varying degrees of know-how.
Oh, and by the way, it actually was a fleet, as I was told by James Jacobs. Divinity was the main ship, the one the PCs explore in The Divinity Drive and makes up Silver Mount, but it was followed by a train of smaller ships. Aurora, Chrysallis...they were there own little spacecrafts that followed Divinity. But again, very, very few people know this.

how are my aliases identifiable on sight:-)
Mostly by your haphazard approach to capitalization and grammar. ^_^
The sense of humor is also a tell, though, once you've seen a few dozen.
