Promo Characters' Play Mats

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

I was wondering when Ekkie's playmat would become available?

Since they're releasing Ekkie for sale around GenCon, I'd expect the playmat to show up then as well.

Yep—it releases July 30, but you can preorder it now.

Fantastic, I got a new 6 player house game kickin' off 3rd weekend of August. Plenty of time to prepare. (must sleeve 1k+ cards, get music playlist ready, get the table leaf out, vacuum, did I make dip?, order Ekkie mat, call up local nerds, DOMINATE on Fridays!)

Thanks guys at Paizo.

Guess it's not going to ship with July subs though.

That's weird, because my July shipment was just modified, after I first got the authorization mail on Thursday, with the Ekkie mat being added to it. ("An item was incorrectly left in your sidecart during the subscription order generation process.") I hope this does not impact the shipping of my subscription stuff. I'd very much rather have the mat shipping later.

Ah, my auth got held up due to not getting paid yet. so that might change.

I am sorry,

Perhaps I am missing something. What is the advantage of discarding a card to draw a card when this ultimately drains health?

Would not a better benefit be recharge a card to draw a card?

Perhaps the benefit was just misstated and / or I am confused about why this mechanic would be useful.

any help would be appreciated.

It gives you a chance to get a card you want at a time you don't normally get to draw cards: the start of your turn. Perhaps you used your last Combat Spell during someone else's turn or you'd like to get rid of an extra Weapon/Armor/Item in hopes of getting a card that lets you explore again. Maybe you want to find a card that can heal someone or remove a Curse/Scourge. Once per game you can choose to discard a card in hopes of getting something more useful.

I'm playing "Captain" Jirelle in the Season of Tapestry's Tides (PACS Season 5) and her Favored Card Type is Ally. If I don't start with a Weapon it's usually worth it to dump something on my first turn in hopes of getting one.

Yes, that would be better! Probably too much better as a bonus for using a mat.

If you're playing under the Society rules, don't forget that the Character Mats also count as an item that lets you reroll one die per Scenario in addition to letting you discard and draw once. (Accessory Perks)

Scarab Sages

thank you so much parody.

I appreciate that insight, and will apply it when i go seeking out my character mats. I had missed the part where I get both with the one item. that makes me very very happy. The card draw as explained by yourself also makes a ton of sense.

Hats off to you.
thanks muches!
