Learning a new language

Rules Questions

I don't remember where I saw this, but I'm sure I did, it allows you to learn one extra language through study, instead of putting a feat in for linguistics.

Does anybody know this, and remember where it came from so I can consult the source?

Just add one rank to the Linguistics skill and pick your new language - you learn it automatically as it pops into your head.

No feat required.

Not what I'm talking about, this kind of suggested more of actual roleplayed study with some checks and I think you could only learn one extra language this way.

Ultimate Campaign has this as an optional rule where you can spend 20 days learning a new language, up to your Int modifier + 1 additional languages. It's in the retaining rules.

Ultimate Campaign, retraining rules wrote:

You can spend time to learn an additional language. It takes 20 days of training to gain a bonus language, and these days need not be consecutive. Each language requires a trainer who shares a language with you and knows the language you want to learn, or a book written in a language you know that explains the basics of the language you want to learn.

The new language does not count toward your maximum number of languages (racial languages + bonus languages from Intelligence + Linguistics ranks). You can train this way only a number of times equal to 1 + your Intelligence bonus.

THANK YOU. I've got a character in the works already being compared to a goblin with rumors starting about her heritage. She's GOING to be learning goblin to enhance this.
