Kasatha monsters.

Rules Questions

Hello all . I'm a noobish dm. Running iron gods and looking to the kasatha monsters that the party will face soon . Regular ones have 4 slams at +1 . They have 13 str. Do I just run the monsters as written with 4 attacks each? Just wanting to make sure there wasn't hidden math I was missing . Also was looking at the boss kasatha , his weapons are done at +7 but unarmed is at +2.

I know there is quite an issue with this race a pcs . But I'm just worried about them as mobs .

Oh and boss kasatha has javelins . But only shown as 1 javelin. So can he only throw one A turn ?

Sorry if this t in right area but don't know if this went in the ap section or rule section

Yep, assuming they don't have to move more than 5' during their turn they would have four attacks at the listed bonus.

As mobs they have very little chance to hit a front line character (figure at least AC 16, that means they need to roll a 15 or higher). They are there as targets with little threat mathematically. As "mooks" they fill spaces, harrass (AoO), and generally are road bumps for the PCs, while the bigger one attempts to do its thing.

If it only has 1 javelin in its equipment, that means it only has 1 to throw that whole encounter, until it can replace it somehow. It might use it at the beginning of the fight before closing or it might use it when a PC is attempting to get away. Basically it has 1, try not to waste it.

His combat equip shows 2 javelins that was why I was curious . 4 attacks is pretty crazy. Here is hoping for a good flanking bonus .

Thanks for quick response . :)

According to the bestiary, kasatha have 1 primary hand and 3 off hands. As a full-round action, anyone can attempt to fight with both their primary and off hands. This is normally called "dual-wielding" because humans and other core races only have two limbs, but it applies to kasatha as well. Basically, as a full-round action, you can use each of your limbs once, if you're within range to do so. So yes, the unarmed kasatha could use all 4 attacks as a full attack.

Iron Gods spoilers below:

Spoiler:
Hetuath, the kasatha in Fires of Creation, has 2 swords and 2 javelins in his inventory. His stat block also notes that he has 2 slam attacks, which are what he uses his other off hands for when fighting with his short swords. The slam attacks come from the juju zombie template.

So in melee, he'd use both sword attacks and both slam attacks at once as a full-round action or just the single primary attack as a standard action. At range, there's room for debate but I'd say he could throw one or both javelins on the same turn and I'd rule that throwing both would be a full-round action while throwing one would be a standard action.

The numbers for the attack bonuses are as follows (A is short sword attacks while B is slam attacks): Strength modifier +4, to A and B; BAB +3, to A and B; Weapon Focus (short sword) +1, to A; masterwork weapons +1 to A; two weapon fighting -6 primary -10 off hand, but with the Two Weapon Fighting feat, the penalties are offset by +2 primary +6 off hand, as well as +2 to each for being light or unarmed weapons, for a total of -2 penalty to A and B; using natural attacks in combination with manufactured weapons reduces BAB by 5 (This is a weird one. Hetuath only has 3 BAB, so his BAB can only be reduced by 3 instead of the full 5.), to B.

A.) 4+3+1+1-2 = +7 to-hit with short swords, as the book says.
B.) 4+3-2-3 = +2 to-hit with slams, as the book says.
