Stamina Pools and Fighters

Advice

Hello everyone.

I may be a bit late to the party with this, but I was wondering if anyone has taken the "advice" of the Unchained book and given this feat/system to Fighters for free and used it as a fighter mechanic.

If so have you noticed any effects? good? bad?

I am considering doing it, as a way to give fighters, only, that scaling ability that could really help to define them.

Any advice?

I am hoping this is properly in the advice thread, rather than rules. I am less concerned about how it works mechanically and more about the effects on the game/party.

I've tried giving it to fighters for free a few times and seen someone else use it. I had immediately used a third party product called Book of Martial Action that had a similar premise to the stamina pool so they linked up nicely to give feats that the fighter can spend stamina on. Included were a lot of movement and save boosters and the general result was this;

It's a significant boost but the raise in power is limited.

With the ability to dump INT and still qualify for combat maneuver feats debilitating combat maneuvers become a thing, particularly because the core function of stamina is an accuracy boost.

The accuracy boost when given exclusively to the Fighter makes Fighters about the most accurate class in the game. It becomes much easier for the tail end of a full attack to hit. I tried to abuse this with crit fishing, it had some good results.

In the end fighters become deadlier but still not capable of defending their poor will save or solve any problem that doesn't involve stabbing something or move effectively.

With third party this becomes a bit different. Stamina can suddenly protect saves and cause a massive amount of movement. Becomes incredibly dangerous and capable of closing in quickly. Had to nerf.

Hmm good to know.

Thanks.

I haven't actually looked at all the potential uses, in fact I pretty much skimmed looking for those feats that my current fighters have.

I suppose it is a fair criticism that all it does is make fighters a bit better at fighting but doesn't address their out of combat concerns (like lack of skills).

Ill look through again and see if anything can be addressed.
