Suggestions for classes for supernatural / monster hunter

Hi all,

I was wondering what class you would pick and how to build it when you would create a character that tracks and kills monsters / demons / vampires / ghosts... (I just watched an episode of Supernatural :-))

What are specific skills/spells/feats that make the character a great hunter? What items does he carry? What weapon does he use? Will he use (supernatural) traps? Preform exorcisms? And how will this work within the pathfinder rules?

I'm curious about what your take on this type of character would be and maybe who you used as inspiration?

Sovereign Court

assuming you are fairly new to supernatural...but well the hunters of supernatural are just regular guys with the right tools for the jobs and study their target, a lot of research before going after their targets.

it depends on the seasons...but well:

Dean is mostly a gunslinger in most seasons, only in the most recent season he is like a warpriest with his sacred weapon being the first blade.

Sam was a sorcerer at one point with the Infernal bloodline, with the potential of becoming an evil outsider. But well if we want to keep it to the basic, Sam is a rogue. I would recommend rogue unchained version. He mostly relies on striking at the right moment and good amount of luck.

Castiel, is an angel...technically he would be the cleric with war and healing as his domains.

In pathfinder it is best represented by doing a lot of research on potential targets, a class which has this kind of flavor is the slayer of course and even the ability studied target works well with that , also give you some sneak attack dice, which works with the general theme of the hunter/monster hunter.

Worthy mention of course is the Inquisitor...coming with the ability bane, they make excellent monster hunters with minimum amount of research and pretty good at ranged attacks.

Dark Archive

Modern Day arms and armor would treat guns as a martial Weapon, Sam and Dean would both be fighter / Ranger / rouge mix or hybrid class (The Supernatural "Hunter") They have unarmed Combat / Improved unarmed and Light bladed weapons Proficiency (Daggers, Machetes, ect)

The rest is all skills, as the show progresses there skills get better but their initial power doesn't increase by much, they just know how to deal with monsters and demons better so it seems like they get stronger, Linguistics, Spell craft, disable device, bluff, disguise, and knowledge skills

They get some "buffs" from tattoos of symbols and wards to Cass permanently engraving wards on their bones all these enhance their abilities but do not really increase their strength score or the likes.

They are all about finding out what they are fighting and getting the right tool for the job, half the time running away to regroup and try again with a different tactic.

In a world filled with level 1 NPCs sam and dean are probably only level 4 or 5 PCs at most and that's being a little generous. and I would stat them as maybe 15 point buy but with nothing below 12 and nothing higher then 15 or 16 after racial bonuses. Probably their highest score being Con, (They can take a major beating and recover fairly quickly).
