Hello everyone!
So I am playing the dread necromancer conversion from 3.5. I took an ability that gives me an undead guardian. It's a human warrior zombie. I've having some problems creating this.
Do I start with a human with warrior class levels, then apply the zombie template? Also it says it has as many HD as I have class levels, so does that mean each HD I apply another level of warrior? And for its start stats, where do I find those?
Thanks for any help !

I would say create a human warrior of appropriate level and then apply the Zombie template. As to the levels, I would ask your DM what he/she thinks. To me it would make sense for the warrior to go up a level with each new hit die it gets. Which ability is it that you took? I can't recall the ability and It would help everyone if you were to cite the book, or better specific ability, from which it comes. It would make life easier for everyone who wants to help you.

It gets warrior levels and racial HD? Seems both confusing and strong.
The typical companion only gets racial HD, not any class levels unless it's intelligent. Most undead don't have intelligence so that might answer your question.
If he is a stronger zombie variant like a zombie Lord, you will waste 2 of your HD on the template itself before getting the rest of your actual levels.
I recommend talking to your DM and compromising with something more like the animal companion progression from the druid.
