Party Comp (Undead-Focused Campaign)

Advice

Shadow Lodge

Uh-oh, here I come again with another advice thread.
As the title implies, I'm coming here because I feel a little irrelevant in my current party, and given that my character just died (we are level 8 so it's not that big of a deal, but I've never been a fan of death just being a 3000 gold deficit and nothing else), I am thinking about making a new character.

Details on the campaign: We are playing an undead/Ustalav focused campaign, a big modification of the carrion crown adventure path. We just got out of the shadow plane after about 10 sessions or so and we fought a lot of fetchlings, undead, zon-kuthon clerics, and wizards. We are level 8 and are almost at level 9. 20-pb.

The party has a skill-monkey rogue who does both melee and ranged in combat (usually invisibility until they can hit with ranged then moves in), a synthesist summoner who has wings, four arms, and a fair amount of HP (obviously), a Wizard who debuffs and blasts (he likes lightning a lot), and a witch who is pretending to be a cleric (took the channeling archetype and heals and buffs a lot). I was playing an inquisitor/shadowdancer with a polearm, which I intended to eventually use shadow dashing stuff to get to the backlines and kill casters. unfortunately, I only have so much HP (about 58), about a 20 AC, and even my to-hit is a little sub-par (+11 or so with a judgement, but no iterative attacks yet)). I hit pretty hard, but between a few bad rolls and the character's general fragility, I spend most (maybe 75% at least) of the fights feared, unconscious, or with 10 str damage while only being able to take down a mook or two while the rest of the party lays into them. If it weren't for our healer, a lot of the time I wouldn't even be able to get one of the mooks.

So, what would you suggest putting into this party? Or am I just being whiny about it and need to suck it up? Thanks for reading and any help you could give.

Grand Lodge

Well if you want someone for the Frontlines then here is one of my builds I love to throw out there:

Carl JR:

Half-Orc Primalist Spelleater Arcane Bloodrager
Alternate Racial Traits: Sacred Tattoo and Shaman's Apprentice

20 point buy: Str: 16, Dex: 14, Con: 15, Int: 8, Wis: 12, Cha: 13
(Level 4 goes +1 Con and all levels go into STR after. If you reach high enough levels for 4th level spells to come into play then I highly suggest a Headband of Cha and Wisdom +2...ups your will saves and allows you to cast your highest level spells.)

Trait 1: Fate's Favored- Paired with Sacred Tattoo you get +2 Luck bonus on all 3 saves...this is better than taking 3 feats.
Trait 2: Dangerously Curious (cause UMD is a Nice skill to Have...scrolls are cheap)

Build By Level:
1 HD: Feats- Endurance(from Shaman's Apprentice Trait) and Diehard, Abilities-fast movement, bloodrage, Disruptive Bloodrage (Su)
2 HD: Blood of Life (Su)Notice the SU in that ability. This fast healing IS magical and not a EX ability like a majority of Fast Healing
3 HD: Feat-Fast Healer, Blood sanctuary
(because of Blood of Life (Su) your fast healing IS magical...makes Fast Healer actually work for you to increase your amount of Fast healing by 1+ Half CON modifier= 3 currently)
4 HD: Eschew materials, Blood casting, Arcane Bloodrage (Sp)
5 HD: Feat-Raging Vitality, Spell Eating (Su) (another source of Magical healing! Raging Vitality makes your CON effectively 2 points higher and you don't end rage while unconscious so you can fast heal while down to stabilize and get back up)
6 HD: Bloodline Feat- Power Attack
7 HD: Feat- Arcane Strike, Fast Healing/ Increase
8 HD: Greater Arcane Bloodrage (Sp)
(Doesn't every melee frontliner want Displacement to add layered defense to your AC...amazing ability to have as a free action)

I believe Carrion Crown goes to Level 13-15 Max so here is how you could finish it out.

9 HD: Feat- (Free feat Choice...Though the party might like Riving Strike Here...Improved critical is another highly sought after Feat) , Bloodline Feat- Iron Will
10 HD: Fast Healing/ Increase
11 HD: Feat-Bloodied Arcane Strike, Greater bloodrage (Need to take bloodied Arcane strike to free up your swift actions for Raging Brutality and Jingasa of the Fortunate Soldier.)
12 HD: Bloodline Feat- Disruptive, Primal Choices: Superstitious & Witch Hunter
(you're giving up Caster's Scourge (Ex) for 2 rage powers. You should already be a caster's worst nightmare with Disruptive Bloodrage (Su), Disruptive feat, and spellbreaker feat. Now add in more damage you're doing to casters and increasing your saves seems more important to me)
13 HD: Feat- Raging Brutality, Fast Healing/ Increase
14 HD: Indomitable will
15 HD: Feat- (Free Feat Choice) , Bloodline Feat- Spellbreaker

I recommend using a reach weapon myself I like the +1 Furious Spell Storing but if you're fighting a lot of incorporeal creatures Ghost touch might be what you want.

Now if you want to be More skill based and have lots of things to do I highly Recommend a build of 1 Inspired Blade Swashbuckler/7 Empiricist Investigator. Here is my build for it that you can gather Ideas from or even copy if you would like.:

Tatiana Andronia:

20 point buy with Level up points allocated:
Str: 10, Dex: 21, Con: 12, Int: 18, Wis: 12, Cha: 7
(level 12 will go into Dex of course)

Race: Elf w/ Alternate Racial traits of Envoy

Traits: These can be damn near anything. I like reactionary and the +1 to fortitude Saves on this character.

Feats:
1HD (Inspired Blade Swash lvl 1):Inspired Finesse->Fencing Grace (feat)
3HD: Arcane Strike (my home group still uses SLAs for Pre-reqs if yours does not then this can be a free feat)
5HD: Extra Talent: Mutagen
7HD: Riving Strike (again see Arcane strike above...this can be a free feat But with 2 free feats you might consider building to Spring attack at 9HD. Completely up to you.)

Investigator Talents:
4HD: Quick Study
5HD: Mutagen
6HD: Infusion
8HD: Sickening Offensive

A +1 Inspired Flamboyant/or Answering Rapier. With this guy you can actually apply things to your weapon like Keen and ghost touch through your Alchemy and Potions. I highly recommend a wand of Alchemical Allocation and the best Potions with the highest CL you can get your grubby mits on. GMW, Keen, Barkskin, Shield of Faith, Fly, Good Hope, Magic Vestment...or if you prefer shapeshifting Greater Magic Fang. This would actually come out better than buying gear with bonuses on it in the long run.

Lastly A dirge Bard built right might be of really good use in this group buffing everyone to unreal levels and still being effective against undead things.

All in all I hope my post has sparked a few good thoughts for your replacement character.
