Blessing of Pharasma and powers that count as spells.

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Blessing of Pharasma adds 2 dice if a spell is played during the check. Does this apply to powers (eg, Sea Singer Lem) that count as playing a spell, or only to actual spells?

What has me unsure is that in the RPG, spell-like abilities and actual spells have a... complicated relationship.

I'd say it meets the requirements to get 2 dice.

Don't have cards on me, but if the wording on spell-like powers is that they say "this counts as playing a spell" -- in which case pharasma would give 2x dice because a spell was played. If it is worded instead "you may not play spells on this check" without saying it counts as a spell, then I'd rule that pharasma would only give 1 die.

Blessing of Pharasma says "if a spell was played".

Sea Singer Lem (or the Sorcerer powers) uses "This counts as playing a spell."

So yes.

(Also, don't use the RPG as your basis for whether or not stuff works.)
