So I am going to be running Jade Regent and as always I like to throw cursed items into the game. One in particular is belt of opposite sex.
Question is if Amaya puts it on and turns into a male does that make her override Ameiko's birthright due to males having succession over females in the heirachy of nobles ?

Nope. Ameiko is the legitimate child, and therefore she takes precedence.

Do males automatically even take precedence in Tian inheritance? I think Ameiko is also older than Amaya, so she has an edge here as well.
I believe the latter statement is correct.
This topic is relevant due to my Council of Thieves campaign, so I'd put some thought into my future Jade Regent campaign. My Amaya will probably fill Tsuto's role...

In my Jade Regent campaign, both Ameiko and Amaya were with the party in Minkai. The spirits at the Imperial Shrine considered Ameiko the only legitimate heir for leadership of the Amatatsu family and for the Jade Throne.
But Ameiko was clever. She accepted the leadership of the family, and then used that authority to declare that Amaya was a full heir of Lonjiko. That let Amaya become empress when Ameiko declined that role. Ameiko figured that being the leader of a clan that she could hand-pick from anyone with a trace of Amatatsu heritage would be more fun than having to rule a nation seeped in traditions she found boring.
