Alignment shifting?

Advice

Just had my party massacre a den of sleeping goblins and dogs - all unarmed. Would this cause any alignment shifts?

Edit- typos...
I'm not sure you just realized the can of worms you opened, there...

Hoenstly, trying to dictate aligment shifts is a hard thing to do.

It's obnoxiously hard to say how far is too far.

Good people do evil thigns sometimes.

Maybe this might be enoguh to change good to nuteral, but honestly, I'm not sure.

Goblins are suspicious creautes, and they very well may have been in the right doing so-
Movies motives are important.

If these goblins were tormenting others, honor is thrown out the window for most.

Genrally, more context it helpful, but really, trying to get anyone on these bounds to agree on alignment issues is... Hard, to say the least.

not likely, goblins are common enemies and often evil. If the tribe has been plagueing "civilized" peoples villages.

In the end, alignment shift only really happen to those with a moral code. If there is no paladin, warpriest or cleric in the group, it is not something to worry about.

Does it matter at this stage in the game what two letters are on the Alignment section of their sheets?

This is always a good point.

No need to complicate things like I do.

Hence why I asked if any of the players were supposed to be following a moral code. If no one is (ie, no paladin, cleric or warpriest) alignment shifts do not matter.

1. What were their alignments?

2. Did the party have reason to believe this group was an active threat?

3. Conversely, did the party have reason to believe this group was not a threat?

It is unlikely to seriously matter, but if you really want to know we need more information.
