So I have been working on a build that will keep my moderately skilled group alive since mortality tends to be somewhat high on random days in my Kingmaker group. They tend to make terrible decisions, and therefore face multiple encounters at once after activating them.
The tentative build:
Human Oracle (Spirit Guide: Life) of Life.
Attributes:
Str 7, Dex 7, Con 18 (+2 human), Wis 7, Int 7, Cha 18
Feats:
(Human) Skill Focus: Knowledge: Planes
(1st) Nature Soul
(3rd) Eldritch Heritage: Arcane: Arcane Bond: Familiar (Mauler archetype)
(5th) Evolved Familiar: Pounce
(7th) Leadership: Gnomish Summoner: Quadruped Eidolon
(9th) Animal Ally: Cat, Small
(11th) Boon Companion
(13th) Evolved Companion (Pounce)
(15th) Toughness
(17th) Craft Wondrous Item (If the Summoner doesn't have it) or ???
(19th) ???
Traits:
Finding your Kin (+1 HP and +1 Skill Point per level)
Rescued (+2 trait bonus to healing spells)
Revelations:
(1st) Life Link
(3rd) Bonded Spirit (Su): Enhanced Cures (Su)
(7th) Bonded Spirit (Su): Channel
(11th) Channel
(15th) Bonded Spirit (Su)
(19th) Lifesense
To ride the cat familiar the Human needs to be able to reduce his size below Medium. If the GM allows a slotless item of reduce person, that is ideal. A slotted item would cost 4,000 gp for a permanent Reduce Person effect, while a slotless version would cost 8,000 gp to create.
HP:
Oracles have HD8, always take the +1 HP bonus as your favored class bonus. This build is built around keeping other people alive by giving them health via Life link, so having an absurd HP pool is paramount.
Your health scales as such
+5 (Average for HD)
+5 (Constitution mod)
+1 (Favored Class Bonus)
+1 (Trait bonus to favored class)
Special
+3 (Completes 1st level bonus to health since it is full HD, not average)
This means at bare minimum, if nothing else happens, that you will have 243 hp at level 20. However, this isn't the end build.
Gear and HD attribute increase points.
You pour everything into increasing your CON. This will increase your CON by 10 at level 16 (+4 [HD] +6 [Belt] meaning your HP per level increases.
At level 16 your HP per level increases to
+5 (Average for HD)
+10 (Constitution mod)
+1 (Favored Class Bonus)
+1 (Trait bonus to favored class)
+1 (Toughness when you get it)
Special
+3 for 1st HD.
This gives you
363 hp at level 20, or -18 for ever level down you go.
This also means your familiar, which is kind of beefy now, will have 181 hp. Your money should go into beefing up the Summoner's Eidolon's, the Familiar's and the cat, small's STR so they can be more effective in combat.
You effectively are playing a commander with the summoner acting as the off-commander whose CON is as high as being an NPC will allow it to go. On the first round of combat each of the pets pounce the nearest or same enemy to deal (hopefully) huge damage. When they take damage they soak the damage, which is eventually transferred to the Oracle. A Ring of Regeneration helps greatly here, as it mitigates the need to constantly heal oneself.
Anyway, there is also a Familiar build, which eschews Animal Companions and Leadership to give the familiar more evolutions, chiefly Tentacle attacks since there isn't a limit.
Note, using Amulet of Mighty Fists and putting all 4 of the elemental damages on it is ideal since each one deals an additional 3.5 points of damage.
