So I want to run a scene for my RL game where there are a lot of NPCs discussing what to do about a particular threat. It would be great if I could get people over Skype. Anyone up for it?
Basically I'm looking for someone to play:
Captain Kynar Half-Hand of the Storm Wardens - http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Kynar_Half-Hand
Captain Esteban de Dominova (though as a Dark Hunter for reasons I'll go into in private) - http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Esteban_de_Dominova http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Dark_Hunters
The game is currently scheduled for Wednesday 22nd of April. The Scene should be at about 9pm GMT.

Yea the idea is to get Skype up on my TV as both Captains will be communicating with the players across vids. I've roped my wife into playing an Inquisitor.
I would really love to say that you could pick up Warhammer 40K on the fly, but really when I tell you the planet is under siege by Tyranids and that The Emperor's Children have been found to be in operation in the area, there's a lot there that needs explaining. And even with the best research, you're likely to have to stop the play and say "what's that" more than once. I'm always happy to have newby players, but I wouldn't start them with Deathwatch. That's the proverbial 'deep end'. I'd start new players up with feral or feudal world characters, so their characters don't know too much more about the universe than they do.
Thanks for the interest though, I appreciate it. If I have a slot for a character that is accessible without a year's experience, I'll PM you.

Greetings.
Being a long time fan and roleplayer of Warhammer 40K universe, plus quite eager for a nice RP, I might actually be interested at that (I'm currently at GMT+2 - South Eastern Europe).
Now, a few questions I'd wish to ask you:
How fluent do I have to be in my speaking of English? (might sound strange but I generally tend to better when writing. Not being a native speaker I might delay a bit more to properly convey what I want via speech. Nothing insurmountable though.)
Will it be a one-time thing or a periodically recurring character?
In order to properly portray this character and in general act according to the setting mood etc, should I read up on the particulars of the war effort on Jerico Reach (I think Deathwatch takes place in that region) or the agenda of each of the two Chapters involved (Storm Wardens, Dark Hunters) and/or Deathwatch?
Are there any specific requirements or a certain "line" that has to be followed, during this council, in order to influence or not influence the decision of the players?
Or is this done solely to enrich their experience by providing NPCs that are actually being played by "guest-star" players, to add in the reality of the setting and help bring this whole universe to life?
Thank you for your time. Looking forward to your response.

How fluent do I have to be in my speaking of English?
- I assume you can understand English just fine, but speak with an accent and use you local phrases. Correct? The Dark Hunters are a lesser known Chapter, so we can just say they speak like that.
Will it be a one-time thing or a periodically recurring character?
- The characters will reappear, though I would be overly optimistic to think I could get players to come back repeatedly. De Dominova will become very prominent in the mission after next, when the PCs may be working under him for a short period. Half-Hand might appear in the following mission depending on the decisions that are made during this scene. Later depending on the decisions the players (not characters) make, they may have to deal with him again.
- You should read the link for De Dominova, if you're going with him. He's currently working for the deathwatch. If you're on Skype before the day in question I can brief you on the rest quickly. A quick look over the Dark Hunters wiki page wouldn't go astray.
Are there any specific requirements or a certain "line" that has to be followed, during this council, in order to influence or not influence the decision of the players?
- The council will meet to decide what to do about a certain threat (Emperor's Children SCM on Vanir during a Tyranid invasion) it would be helpful if you tried to find yourself at the conclusion that the PC's should be the team on the ground, etc. Honestly, I haven't the following scenario written at all and only have a few things I want to do in my head. the conclusions of the meeting will give me the framework for the next mission.
PM me your Skype name and I'd be happy to talk with you more there. I'm gaming tonight, but I'm on most evenings.

Cool idea, hope it worked out well, I'd of been interested and still would being an NPC sometimes, love acting and role play. As a GM I know its crazy sometimes playing all the NPCs yourself and even worse if your group lacks a "face" guy. I might hit up these forums sometime for the same thing in my game.
Anyways, next time if you need someone, shoot me a PM, happy to help if our times work out.
