Would it be possible to make the FAQ Queue a filter on the message boards that anyone can use?
i.e. I'd like to vote up a bunch of ACG related FAQ's - I can either try to find posts via lots of searchers (or browsing) or if the whole FAQ queue were visible I could filter on that, then browse for the posts that are discussing the issues / questions I have.
I can see how this might lead to some abuse - but I can also see how it would help get all the message board readers contributing further to voting on FAQs and perhaps on helping identify overlapping FAQ requests and/or posts that contain multiple issues etc.

The FAQ's are not que'd via importance strictly on numbers alone. That is why upvoting an FAQ may not matter. Another issue is that if the team can put out a less complicated FAQ due to free time, than one that might involve several meetings they may decide go that route.
Also if they que is published and people are expecting FAQ X, but it is jump by FAQ Y people will complain. Also if some people think FAQ X is easy to write, but it is not done due to lack of time or other reasons, there will be complaints about that also.
Basically putting the que up just opens the PDT team up to unneeded criticism from people who don't know as much as they think they do.

There are no plans to make this queue public. The Design Team's method for working through these is contingent on too many factors other than sheer volume for clicks. It also opens up potential for not only abuse of the system, but abuse directed at the team directly. However, there are some ideas floating around the office surrounding notifying the community when an FAQ is available, or if there's going to be plans to answer FAQ/generate errata for specific products, also.

Another thought might be to post something listing say a handful of posts that you are considering answering - by highlighting them the community could vote with our attention as to which stories are of the most pressing interest?
(especially helpful in highlighting some posts that might be FAQ candidates but a lot of people may have missed - say a post in the middle of a long thread or on a board other than Rules Questions etc)
