Hello, new to grappling and thought I'd cross-check a question on grappling. Maybe I'm misreading or just tired (it is ungodly early).
But, when you grapple... And it's your opponents turn to break the grapple, they fail and you maintain the grapple. Do they take damage along with failing to break said grapple?
Or maybe I'm just thinking about constrict...my brain hurts @_@

Your opponent does not take damage for failing to break the grapple. Instead, you get a +5 to the grapple for their failure. You can then maintain the grapple to deal damage, which allows for specific damages to be dealt.
Constrict would allow you to deal damage on any successful maintain check.
Just to note: Your opponent's failure to break the grapple is not an immediate indication that you maintain the grapple. Effects that trigger on maintaining the grapple only occurs when you make the roll.
