can play more than one card ?

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

i bought a copy of the game "pathfinder card game adventure", but i don't understand a rule:

when does a player do a test to purchase or to fight a card that player can play more than one card ? the only restriction is the type ?

for example:

the warrior start a fight,

he plays a card type weapon and a card type resource

he can't play two weapons or two resources.

is it correct ?

and

can a player play a card in the turn of another player that stay in different location ?

can a player play more than one card in the turn of another player ? the only restriction is the type ?

thank you

On any one check you can play a maximum of 1 card of each type.

So if you are fighting the villain, you can play 1 weapon, 1 item, 1 ally, and 1 blessing. The other players may also play a blessing on your check.

Note, daggers allow you to discard them to add to a combat check made with another 1 handed weapon.

Each character may play 1 card of each type per check (or per any other step of an encounter).

Only 1 card at all can be a card that defines the check. (i.e. You can't play Longsword and Force Missile because they both define your combat check. You can play Longsword and Aid because Aid doesn't define your combat check.)

There are cards that allow those rules to be broken (Daggers, some items and shields that say you may play another card of that type).

There is no limit in the rules about what location you have to be at to play a card, but some of the cards have those limits. Shortbow, for example, says you can discard it to add to a Combat check in another location, so it won't help someone at your location. Potion of Fortitude says you have to choose a character at your location, so it won't help someone at another location. Blessings have no mention of what location, so they can help someone at your location or at another location.

You might find this guide helpful.

Good luck on your adventure.

Unless a card says you have to be at their location, you can play the card from anywhere. Some cards even require you to be at a different location.

Yes, other players are also allowed to play one card of each type on the other player's check.

Look for these key phrases:
"On your check..."
"On a check..."
"On any check..."
"... at your location."

These and a few others define when a card may be used.

You can also play cards on other player's turns that aren't part of a check. Cure, for example, can be played on someone else's turn, but it is not played during a check.

thank you !

you are the best ! ^_^

There are also a few things that by the rules you can only do at certain time (e. g. you can only exploreduring your own exploration step). As a consequence, cards that let you do this things can only be played at that certain time (e. g. cannot play an ally to explore or blessing during someone else turn).
Also, as said Hawkmoon, during certain steps you cannot play a card that doesn't relate to the step (e. g. cannot play cure in the middle of an encounter).
Those limitations come from the generic rules, so they apply even if not mentionned on the cards.
