Hi all,
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, my wife and i used to play dungeons and dragons first and second edition.
Then real life begun, and we never touched it again, but I still have my books(and my wife!) from those times.
A few weeks ago we were looking with the children at some photo's from our sessions,we used to play all dressed up as our characters, and of course they were hooked and wanted to try something like that.
So we played an introductory scenario from the old days and we all loved it.
Then I did a websearch for some new adventures and discovered Pathfinder.
I must say the Pathfinder universe is quit overwhelming and I'am not sure where to go from here.
Modules?Adventures?Society?
So any advice would be welcome.
We plan to play about 1 or 2 times a month, and the youngest is 10 years so the story line can't be to complicated, but we want a bit more than just hack and slash.
Thanks
Bob

The "Beginner Box" product is a really solid introduction to Pathfinder. It teaches you the basics in a very well put together fashion, especially if you'll be teaching children. On the other hand you may just want to pick up the Core Rulebook, it'll have the complete rules set with a handful of classes and race s to play with. There's an ever expanding army of splat books and published adventures to choose from, in your position I'd ask the family what kind of game they want to play (Pirates, Knights, Arctic Explorers, whatever) and pick up an adventure in that same theme. You don't have to incorporate anything into your gameworld that you dont want to.

Start with the Core rulebook, and ignore everything else for a while.
Pathfinder is nowhere near as overwhelming as Forgotten Realms.
It really, really is.
It is also modular, though. You can have a good time with it without extensive knowledge beyond the bit you're currently using.
Also, you could just use the rules and make up the campaign yourself, if you wanted to. Otherwise, the adventure paths are usually pretty good, but I don't know if they stand up well to ten year olds.
They might like the goblins, and try to hug them instead of kill them. Canonically, that'd get their character's face eaten, but if you (quite reasonably) don't want to go that route, it can derail the plot a good bit.

The dragon demand is a simple and good module for new players(level 1 to 7) on top of it, the best part it leaves the rest up to you. After doing the module you will be well established in Golarion, so now going anywhere for adventures would be up to you. You'll need access to the PRD or d20pfsrd, for monster stats but that's pretty much it.
