Coming back after a break.

Pathfinder Society

Hey all.

So my wife and I stopped playing PFS around this time 2 years ago (3/13ish) when RL decided to come up.

Anyway I am thinking of going to an event and has a few questions.

1. My factions seem to have gone away...... What do we do at this point? I read the new guide but I'm still a tad confused.

1b. 2 of our characters were ready for eyes of ten and lantern lodge, is there any way to end their careers in the old way?

3. It seems that my Bladebound/Kensai Magus/Monk/Fighter has Crane line that no longer do what they once did. do I just keep them and deal (still good) or can i free retrain as the feat changed?

4. It seems the base races changed, I have a level 1 Asimar that I would like to retrain (it was a legal choice without boon back then) can I do that and still play him without boon? do I have to change race?

Thanks for the help guys.

Dark Archive

Welcome back.

1a. You get a free faction change to one of the new factions. Most are essentially the old factions, but with less national ties, though some have been eliminated or folded into other factions. Qadira and Scarzini are now The Exchange, and Shadow Lodge and Lantern Lodge are no more.

1b. You have to change their factions, but there is no reason you can't still play Eyes of the Ten. There is also a new retirement arch option in I think Wardens of the Reborn Forge(I think that's what it is called), and the Emerald Spire Super Dungeon can take characters up to 14th level. There is also high level Adventure Path content that is approved for PFS.

2. There is noooooooo question number two.

3. You can retrain Crane Wing Reposte(which was changed) for free, but not the Base Crane Wing Style feat(which is still pretty good).

4. If you played your level 1 Aasimar before the deadline where they were removed as an option without a race boon, you can retrain your Aasimar to another Aasimar no trouble. If you never actually played the character(put a chronicle sheet on him in a game in which he was an Aasimar), you can't retrain it into an Aasimar now, even if that was your plan before. With GM credit, the characters race needs to have been clearly marked previously on a chronicle sheet applied to him. For example, when I GMed a game right before the deadline, I assigned it an Aasimar character then named "Mr. Aasimar". So if it was just a GM Credit Baby idea, then I think it is too late.

Just to clarify point number 3. You can retrain Crane Riposte and Crane Wing for free, but you have to pay to retrain out of Crane Style if you wish to get rid of all three parts of the chain.

Hey welcome back man! I've been wondering what happened to you two the last few Michigan cons I've been to. Glad to see you come back. Looks like your questions are pretty well answered already. Again, welcome back. :D

Thanks everyone.

Hey Eric, Yeah about 2 years back we started a HUGE court thing that ended with us getting full custody of my now 15 daughter. As you can imagine life has been nuts but it's finally settling down a bit.

Thanks again for the answers guy.

I believe Campaign Leadership is also looking to release a spoiler-free "story thus far" for new (and old returning) players to get caught up with the PFS metaplots.

There's also a scenario you can play to address the ending of the Lantern Lodge.

It's also *awesome*.

The Exchange 5/5

Metro Detroit PFS games are now using Warhorn version 2, in case you tried the old site. Dennis Wheelock is also organizing a 4-day convention at RIW Hobbies in Livonia (April 17-20), but the schedule is still under construction. LinksCon at GameLinks in Fowlerville is scheduled May 28-31, but I am not certain Allen is putting PFS on the schedule. Glad you are back!

Thanks Doug.

I'll give Allen a call and ask him.

Just to clarify this a little, Lantern Lodge & Shadow Lodge just disappeared, so those you need to change. The others that have gone (Chelliax => Dark Archive etc) automatically roll over into their new equivalents. This does not use the free faction change - you get a free change this season (ie any time before August) in case you don't like the default assignments.

Alan is having PFS on the schedule, definitely less than in past years. :) I think he mentioned 18 tables of PFS for the weekend.
