Demon follower class, or similar?

Advice

Hey guys!
New DM, first time poster here! I've started playing rise of the runelords with my group of 6pcs and during the hunt with Aldern I added alittle more flavor, wanting to add my on imprint on the story I had my pc's meet a demon patron (demi-god I guess), the demon gifted some of them ("the ones chosen") giving them natural attacks, like bite. So now I have a gnome witha a 1d3 bite and and barbarian with 1d4 bite, the bite is real good for the barbaian but as we are all new players this have not been abused. Okey back to point, one of the characters, a halfling bard grew a tail with a little claw on it, later this same bard drank the waters of lamashtu, giving him in dmg and dex dmg AND twisting his tail, bulking it upp with muscles and green pus beginning to ooze from it, giving it a poison. Again though now he has gifts from two diffrent deitys making his tail burn in agony periods at the time.

Driven mad by this, he later drank from the minor runewell, driving him on a berserker path, quickly knocked unconsius now is where the fun begins!

What I need help with is the following:
1. The demigod speaks with the bard in his unconsious state, offering him to cleanse the taint of lamashtu from him. So Im planning to buff his tail, saying like when using his tail he has 20str, maybe giving him reach like a wip? I want this to be a strong valid option in a fight

2. The cost is though that the bard start to follow this demigod, becoming his "soldier/follower/cleric", they just lvled so I though I can offer him a demon class or something in the like!

Any ideas how to pull this off?? Thanks in advance

It sounds like what you should need is the Demoniac prestige class.

Yep. That's the one. If he fellows more than one demon lord, you can always take that class and have him take the Demonic Obedience for feat for a different demon lord.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I might suggest snagging Book of the Damned 2: Lords of Chaos. It has several demons and the boons they grant. For example, Lamashtu's boons are listed here. You can get a rough comparison based on some of the other Demon Lords' boons. To get these boons, a feat Demonic Obedience or the Demoniac prestige is required. But the character also swears obedience/worship to a demon lord and a certain number of hit die (12 to start) before they get their first boon. With the prestige class, you can get the first boon at level 10.

Ultimately, you've given these abilities much sooner than could otherwise be achieved. It sounds like you are just finishing up module 1? Not that any of that is game breaking, but it may disrupt the balance of the party to have too much power given freely to one character. Perhaps give a drawback or some such to the gaining of the power early? They are all demonic looking mutants (bite attacks, tails, etc.) Maybe a negative to charisma based skills (sans Intimidate)? Maybe a random dice chart happens when he casts a spell with his bardic abilities? I'd need to know more about the circumstances to make an effective answer exactly what I'd do, but the potential is still there to go off-script with a unique adventure and concept. Especially if some of the party are clerics or refused to partake of the demonic temptations...
