FYI, Chelish Marine from S&S6 is eventually going to get an erratum similar to the one for Crab Swarm.

It will be something very similar to changing "Each character at your location must summon and encounter the Chelish Marine; it is defeated or undefeated based solely on your check." to "Before you act, each other character at your location summons and encounters the Chelish Marine."

We are taking a look at cards like Tangletooth, Falling Bell, Mammy Graul, Silas Vekker, Avalanche, Occluding Field, and Barroom Brawl to see if anything else might need a similar treatment. No decisions yet on those, which is why we may take a while to errata Chelish Marine.

Also, Pirate Sniper is missing a word:
Before you act, succeed at a Wisdom or Perception 14 check or the Pirate Sniper deals 1d4–1 Ranged Combat damage to you, then 1d4–1 Ranged Combat damage to you.

Not sure if we'll errata that.

I would like to know if you pass the initial Wisdom or Perception check, do you avoid both instances of Ranged Combat damage or just the first instance of 1d4-1 damage?

I read it that a successful check avoids both.

Both. There's no verb after the "then" that would tell you otherwise.

Speaking of which... Just a confirmation :

The scenario Danse Magaav says something like "when you encounter the henchman Magaav Assassin, a character at each other occupied location encounters a Magaav Assassin.

Since there is no mention of "before", can we first do the main encounter, then if successful attempt to close the location (since it's "immediately after") and then manage the other assassins' encounters? May be important for example if another character than the one whose turn it is has little chance to defeat the assassin and hold a card that is critical to succeed at the closing location condition.

We followed the rule that, when the cards don't impose an order for doing things, you pick the order. Does it feel OK? Hawk? Mike?

Sovereign Court

"When you encounter" happens before anything else. All the summoned encounters happen before any part of the main one, even before any "Before You Act" powers.
