Change a Weapon Type

Rules Questions

Is there any way to change a weapons type for the purposes of enhancements, such as turning a Bludgeoning weapon to a Piercing or a Piercing to a Slashing weapon?

Do you have a specific weapon and damage type in mind?

Well I was curious if there was a way to change a weapon with the Piercing quality to slashing

Only thing that comes to mind are tusk blades, which change your gore attack from piercing to piercing and slashing, and the blades could thus be enhanced as a slashing weapon.

I can think of other effects that change the type of damage a weapon deals, or the type of damage it effectively deals for overcoming damage reduction, but nothing that specifically changes the damage of the weapon for the purpose of enhancements.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

The Weapon Versatility feat does exactly that for general use, but applying it to enhancements is a bit much. What were you thinking of, exactly?

Well we use a book from 3.5 called AEG Mercenaries which allows for the Laminated and Serrated Blades on a Rapier.

You're going to have to elaborate. I have no idea what's in that book or what "Laminated and Serrated Blades" refers to in this context. If you can say specifically what you're trying to accomplish in Pathfinder, we might be able to help you out.

Well they are enhancements like Masterwork. the way it works is it takes the Cost of the weapon + 300 (Mwk) + 300 (Serrated) + 900 (Laminated) x3
what it would do to a rapier is make it a 1d6+1 dmg, 17-20/x3 for something like 4560 GP

Yes, okay, but what is it YOU are trying to do in PATHFINDER?

Do you simply want to deal different damage types? I posted above a catch-all solution. If you want to do something else, you're going to need to elaborate.

Well Serrated and Laminated can only be applied to Slashing Weapons.

He wants his rapier to be treated as a slashing weapon for the purposes of applying an enchantment.

Your best option is really just... going to be talking to your GM about letting you apply them as-is. Or switching to the scimitar, unless you have some reason to stay with the rapier.

Yeah, there are a couple ways to deal slashing damage with a rapier in Pathfinder, but I don't know any way to change the weapon so that it is inherently a slashing weapon.

Your GM is already allowing non-Pathfinder content, so you should be talking to him about it, not us.
