When I read about the protector familiar archetype I had the first idea that has since developed into a build concept.
Please tell me what you think about it and what suggestions you have.
Race: Mountain Dwarf (Rockstepper, Mountaineer, giant hunter, perhaps surface survivalist)
Class: Primalist aberrant spell-eater bloodrager 1
Traits: Glory of old, roll with it, rich parents
Drawback: Umbral unmasking or power-hungry
Stats: STR: 16 DEX: 10 CON: 16 INT: 12 WIS: 10 CHA: 12
Feats:
- Aberrant tumor (protector octopus )
Equipment of note:
- Masterwork dwarven longhammer
- Boulder helmet
- Masterwork breastplate
The idea is to be a raging brute with some strangeness. The tumor familiar will be attached to his chin, hidden within his big beard. From there the tentacles can reach out to use the proterctor's bodyguard feat, possibly increasing my AC vs 6 melee attacks per turn.
From level 5 on I can slit damage dealt to either me or the familiar between us and the tumor can use its fast healing 5 to heal its part of the damage. By that I increase my HP pool and can profit from both my own raging fast healing 1 and the tumor's fast healing 5.
When fighting I start with a reach weapon + boulder helmet to threaten 5ft and 10ft but at 4th level I get reach while raging so I threaten further.
I'm still thinking about using a different reach weapon to get more mileage out of staggering strike but the warhammer being Azatoth's favoured weapon I thought the longhammer is closer fluff wise.

Really cool build. I like what the Familiar Folio brings to the game. But as much as I love the visual of a tentacle beard, I have to ask. If the tumor familiar has all the abilities of the animal it resembles, in this case an octopus, wouldn't it suffocate out of water?
The thing is, as long as it is attached to the bloodrager it can get what it needs from him and does not need to breathe.
I asked that in the rules question board and the answers were mixed leading to: Ask your GM.Edit: If it is a problem, one of the familiars granting a natural armor bonus (I think the armadillo) has a high dex, too.

I'd allow it. Rule of cool demands it.
