Taking over a game after previous GM disappearance

Online Campaigns General Discussion

Hello,

I'm looking for info on how to "inherit"a PbP. A party of players saw two GM disappear quickly, I proposed to be the new GM and continue the adventure.

There's this, on top of the "Online Campaign" thread:

Quote:

Did you inherit a play-by-post?

If you are the GM for a play-by-post campaign but didn't start the thread, please email community@paizo.com.

We need:

A link to your profile page (click on your name at the top where it says "Welcome, your name!"
A link to the gameplay and discussion threads for the campaigns you have inherited.
Just copy and paste these links from the address bar in your browser, please.

I followed the rules, and send a mail a few days ago, but I had no answer so far.

Can I GM the game, without "permission" from the Paizo staff?
can I recruit a new player for the game?
Can I use and modify the "Campaign Info" tab, as if I was the first GM?

Thankies for any advice/info

1) Yes
2) Yes
3) No

The reason for sending the email to community@paizo.com is so the staff can assign you as the GM for the campaign so you have the privileges as if you were the original creator of the game, which turns 3) No into 3) Yes.

thankies forr the answers

Do you know how long you got to wait for the mail from the Paizo staff??

Staff doesn't work weekends (normally, but there are exceptions) so starting from 17:00 USA Pacific time on Friday thru 10:00 USA Pacific time on Monday, they are not in the office.

It depends on when you sent the email. You said "a few days" ago, which could mean sometime Thursday or Friday. I'd give it four or five business days at minimum myself, then post up in Customer Service. Till then, just recruit your extra player(s) and start posting with your DM id. Then when they switch over "ownership" of the threads, you can make your updates.

Send my mail on 5th February, so it shouldn't be too long by now.

Notice, my suggestion was for business days. Today, Monday, would be the 2nd business day.

I hope Eschie got her answer. I'll chip in that the person who responded to my email was very pleasant and it only took maybe 3? business days to get my game switched over.

I had my answer, and the person was nice and pleasant too.

FYI - I just did this and it took literally less than an hour. YMMV.

Good for you and your players!
