Iconic Monk Questions

Silver Crusade 1/5

Hi,

I got a quick few questons to 1st level Sajan.

1. Why is his unarmed strike 1d6+4? It seems like it's treated as a two-handed weapon, but this is the first time I ever saw this happen.

2. Couldn't he flurry with his temple sword? +2/+2 (1d8+3/19-20) surely is better than +2/+2 (1d6+3), right?

3. Same question for his shurikens.

I understand they try not to overwhelm new players with the iconics, but the same goes for the monk 4 and the monk 7 iconic...and once your temple sword is dealing 1d8+6/19-20 it really makes a difference.

Silver Crusade 5/5 5/55/5 **** Venture-Captain, Germany—Bavaria

1. Seems to be a mistake, it is not the only one when it comes to the old iconics, and with the addition of core, I don't see the update happen any time soon.

2. Yes he can, adding all those options just tends to make the statblock a bit untidy.

3. He could use them to flurry, but with 10 ft range increment and the lack of precise shot, I don't see him using them (they are not even cold iron.

4.? Sajan is decent at level 1, but the level 7 version seems to be a massive waste of space. Spring attack is... not great for a monk, especially once lacking a two handed weapon and power attack.

Scarab Sages

1. They have him two handing the unarmed strike, it's an error based on him two-handing the non-flurry temple sword.

Also, not only does level 7 have Spring Attack, he also has Scorpion Style, which is a waste of a feat too.

2/5

2. When he first got his write up, Flurry of Blows wasn't FAQ'ed yet allowing him to flurry with only one weapon. At least that's how I reason it. Could simply be a mess-up.
