Constrict and weapon enhancements

Rules Questions

If you constrict, do you get the damage from weapon enhancements (on an Amulet of Mighty Fists) such as Corrosive, Frost, Shock, etc.?

For example, let's say I have a Corrosive Amulet of Mighty Fists. I punch for Dice + Str + 1d6 Acid and succeed on a Grab. Do I also constrict for Dice + Str +1d6 Acid, or just Dice + Str?

Thanks.

Looking more closely at it, I'm tempted to say no because it's a special attack.

However, I believe there is still a corner case here with Final Embrace.

Final Embrace wrote:
Benefit: You gain the constrict and grab special attacks. Your constrict attack deals damage equal to your unarmed strike or primary natural weapon melee attack. Further, you can grab and constrict opponents up to your size.

Relevant part bolded for emphasis.

Grappling does not allow you to use the bonuses for grapple checks so following that I would say the damage bonus is not applied to constrict.

Would you also say that the damage bonus doesn't apply when you choose to damage as part of maintaining a grapple?

yes.

How about Sneak Attack? On constrict? On a maintain to damage?

Grappling does not make you lose dex to AC. It just provides a penalty. Now if you had a way to make them lose dex to AC, and then choose the damage option for grappling it(sneak attack) should apply, but I don't think it would apply to the constrict also. I am not 100% sure on the constrict however.

PS: Being able to sneak attack would not change whether or not the weapon's bonus applied.

Yeah, I should have mentioned that the sneak attack would be while they're pinned or somesuch to avoid confusion.

Here's what the PRD says on grappling to damage.

PRD wrote:
Damage: You can inflict damage to your target equal to your unarmed strike, a natural attack, or an attack made with armor spikes or a light or one-handed weapon. This damage can be either lethal or nonlethal.

By that logic, would you also not get weapon enhancement damage with a non-unarmed strike, or are unarmed strikes just mysteriously weaker in this situation for no apparent reason?

That is how I read it also. If you use the grapple option to damage then the weapon bonus would not apply.

I could be wrong, but it makes sense to keep it consistent that way.

Actually, combat maneuvers do allow you to use the bonuses from enhancement bonuses if you're performing the maneuver with your weapon. This comes up most frequently with Trip, Disarm, and Sunder, but also applies to grapples if you have Grab. Since you're using that specific natural attack to grapple with, any enhancement bonuses on that weapon apply.

I'm not sure whether Sneak Attack applies, but bonuses to damage that apply to your natural weapons (such as the Deliquescent Gloves or an Amulet of Mighty Fists) would apply due to Final Embrace causing your constrict to do the same damage your natural weapon deals.
