Summoner affected by negative levels / level drain

Rules Questions

If a Summoner is affected by negative levels and is thus:

"...treated as one level lower for the purpose of level-dependent variables (such as spellcasting) for each negative level possessed"

How does this affect his/her eidolon?

It doesn't, the eidolon is not a level dependent variable.

But the eidolon's progression and evolutionary pool are based off the Summoner's level--

From the APG:

"An eidolon's abilities are determined by the summoner's level and by the choices made using its evolution pool"

So if the Summoner is treated as one level lower per negative level, wouldn't that affect the eidolon's abilities?

No, you are confusing level based abilities with level-dependent variables. The eidolon is not a variable.

Example of level-dependent variable: 1d6/level.
Another example: 1round/level.

Summary: The eidolon is a class feature based on your level, it is not a level-dependent variable.

okay, thank you for the clarification

No problem, if you do a keyword search for "variable" in your CRB pdf you will see that most instances of the word involve spellcasting or effects that mimic spellcasting.
