Would a mythic Cleric taking Hierophant benefit from dual path in your opinion?

Advice

Topic. So my cleric is level 7, and now mythic tier 1. Hierophant is the obvious choice for her, with mythic spell casting, faith's reach, and eventually enduring blessing. I'm wondering if dual path would be worth it to grab a few archmage abilities. Crafting mastery is drool worthy, but this game has never encouraged crafting so I'm weary trying to introduce it. Mirror dodge would be picked up if it were on my own path, but not sure if it's worth a mythic feat for dual path and the path ability to grab it, for example.

It would be foolish to not grab some mythic spells, and I'm tempted to grab mythic spell casting AND mythic spell lore to build my mythic spells up right (incidentally, I'm open to ideas here, but not the point). If I want dual path though, it has to picked now. No right ot wrong answers, just wondering if others feel it would be worth it. Thanks for your time!

archmage has some useful abilities, not all of them, if your dm doesn't encourage crafting...just don't bother with crafting mastery. Usually champion or guardian might be better dual choices. In my experience at least, Hierophant only has a few abilities that you really want, you might as well become better than the warrior/melee of your group by picking some champion abilities on top of your hierophant abilities tuned to 11.

Dual Pathing can be very good, though a lot depends on what you want. Archmage is an odd choice... I was expecting you to ask about Dual Path to Guardian or Champion. But, Archmage is desired so let's look at why.

Crafting Mastery is also available to the Trickster via Path Dabbling, and the Trickster also has Mirror Dodge. That path might have additional abilities more palatable to a Cleric than an Archmage would too, though you'll have to make that call. You'd certainly get more mileage out of a Trickster Attack than you would an Archmage Arcana, and off-hand it's looking like the two are more-or-less comparable in gains. Depends on what kind of Cleric you are though.

Mythic spells... are kind of hit and miss. The biggest key to making Mythic really work for you, I've found, is figuring out how to manage your mythic power. You get 3+2xtier a day, so five right now. Between your Divine Surge, mythic spells, active path abilities like Mirror Dodge, and possibly feats, you have a lot of things tapping into it. Pick and choose the abilities you like best that draw on mythic power and then find passive mythic abilities/feats to supplement them.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The cleric I had was mythic with hierophant and guardian actually. Mind, he was more melee focused too but the big benefits of guardian basically make you unkillable if you pick the right ones and a healer that you can't kill means the rest of the party stays up and going too.
