I think its time we start planning its downfall, and the downfall of all 4 of the other starter settlements, as well. I don't care if it means rewriting a large chunk of my guide. I can take one for the team!

No thanks. Marchmont probably has (from what I can tell) the most consistent active player count in the region.
Since GW took away global chat, and Bonny keeps saying to stop using Help channel as global chat - I'd rather play where I can talk to and play with or see other people, rather than being in empty settlements.
Personally, I don't think the presence of the starter settlements is the sole reason why so many player settlements are empty.
Additionally, forcing new players into working out of player settlements that all lack a proportion of core gameplay features (class training/crafting) is just a recipe for disaster and more players disappearing.

I'm sorry, but as a Golgothan, I have already welcomed our new Mordant Spire overlords.
If you have a dispute, you'll have to take it up with them, once the devs allow escalations to freely expand.
