Atlatl Range Increments... ?

Rules Questions

Lantern Lodge

Awhile back, I asked a bunch of questions regarding the Atlatl, but now I might actually build a character who focuses in on it. So...

What is the maximum range increments you can fire an atlatl? 5, like thrown weapons, or 10, like projectile weapons?

And then, besides the distance weapon property, are there any methods of increasing the maximum range of a weapon?

And:

Would the Barbarian Hurler archetype increase the range of the atlatl?

An atlatl seems to be a projectile weapon, not a thrown weapon.

Quote:
Atlatl: An atlatl is a thin piece of wood or antler used as a lever to hurl a specially fitted dart. An atlatl gives much greater range to a dart, but must be loaded like a projectile weapon. Your Strength modifier applies to damage rolls when you use an atlatl, just as it does for thrown weapons. You can fire—but not load—an atlatl with one hand. Loading an atlatl is a move action that requires two hands and provokes attacks of opportunity. The Rapid Reload feat can be taken for atlatls, allowing you to load a dart as a free action. Atlatl darts are the size of javelins but have fletching, and can be used as javelins without an atlatl.

Rapid Reload does nothing for thrown weapons. The atlatl is loaded, just like a projectile weapon. And it has to be specifically mentioned that your strength modifier is added, just like a thrown weapon. If it was actually a thrown weapon, there would be no need to mention that.

As a projectile weapon, the barbarian Hurler ability won't effect it.
