Kingmaker
After a month wait due to NaNoWriMo we finally started our first play through of Kingmaker. I figured I'd use this as an online journal report of things that happen each session, so spoilers will be within this to the max!
The party is made up of 2 PCs. I started them at level 2 and a free early access to the leadership feat.
Our first character is a lvl 2 dwarven paladin that's focused on the long bow. He owes a life debt to an elven noble, so he agreed to escort the nobles daughter while she answers the call. She is a LG lvl 1 bard.
Our second character is a LN lvl 2 Suli summoner. He has a biped eidolon with 4 arms. His family are slavers that gave him a pet/slave strix when he was a child. He has raised this strix as a friend and not as a pet/slave. He is answering the call with a command from his father for a possible house expansion, and new area for their trade.
This is a shorter session because they needed to finish up the character building.
I did a cut scene of them meeting up at the lords manor in Ristov. We started the adventure on the road to Oleg's. I wanted to have them already have meet before the trading post. The meetings went well enough. The elven noble and the Suli noble are the ones who do most of the talking.
Once at Oleg's they were greeted by Svetlana and acted as if they were the reinforcements they sent for. They did not want them to loose faith. They learned almost everything they could about the bandits that have been coming for the dues.
The first thing they did off the bat was try to check out the ballista, something they will be working on. In the future. They actually started planning on how to fortify it over time to make it a more suitable home base, and even to turn it into a fort. Oleg is not keen on this for obvious reasons.
The plan was set for the morning. They were going to have watch on all sides of the trading post, the front gate was shut and barred with the eidolon behind it, and our PCs were on the palisade in the front.
Once the bandits arrived they stopped about fifty feet out from the gate and dialogue started between the two groups. Our summoner wanted to talking things out, see what the bandits real needs are and maybe turn them away from banditry. They talked about some terms and items the bandits wanted and they took off leaving the party to get everything ready for them when they come back in the morning.
The night ended with the PCs turning to each other saying can you track.
That was the end of session one, lots of role playing between everyone. Everyone was really getting a feel for and into the characters. A very fun first session.
The thing the group doesn't know is the bandits will be back in the night to take care of these wannabe heroes...
