A player of mine wants to play a Spirit Whisperer Wizard archetype. From reading the description of this archetype, it seems to me that such a wizard would be incapable of learning spells from scrolls and spellbooks, and only gets new spells when leveling up. Am I missing something or is that correct?

Sorry for thread necro, but I too am curious about this.
Witches' familiars can learn from other witch familiars.
Since witches' familiars only store witch spells, and a spirit whisperer's familiar stores wizard spells, spirit whisperer familiars (SWF) should be able to learn from other SWF, but can't learn from witch familiars.
I personally would think that guven the rarity of a particular archetype, SWF should be able to learn from other wizard's spellbooks by studying the spellbooks and also help the other wizards to teach them how to write a spell in their spellbook. Otherwise, the loss of the spellbook feature is a huge blow to the versatility of the Wizard class.
