kingmaker, unrest and house building

Rules Questions

hey all, me and my group are at the second books of kingmaker and we have started building a kingdom, we and our master have a doubt, he has read this part in the manual "If a building affects Unrest, it does so only once, when it is first constructed." , so he say that if we build an house (unrest -1) we get to lower the unrest by one that month but we lose that bonus the following month and unrest go up 1 again, acconrding to me he he is wrong and the unrest stay at the same amount (dont including any stability check)

You're right, he's wrong.

Unrest as a statistic is modified and then unchanged until something else changes it again.

So, if you start with Unrest 3, and something happens that increases it by 2, and then another thing decreases it by 1, you have an unrest of 4. Next month, your unrest is 4, and the things that you did last turn have no effect at all.

Unrest (+ or -) is *usually* only generated once. I say usually because sometimes there could be an ongoing effect that generates additional unrest every time the effect happens. Buildings do not do that though.

So lets say you start off with 0 Unrest. You then build two Dance Halls (+1 unrest each). You also build a house to mitigate some of this. (-1 unrest). The total is +1 unrest (+1 +1 -1 = +1).

Unless you have more unrest (+ or -) modifiers that is how it will stay until you suffer an effect that changes it or build buildings that will change it.
