Silver Crusade 1/5

In the enigma vaults you find a broken mithril pepper box rifle.
Can it be taken to Alkenstar to be repaired?

The rifle does not appear on the Chronicle sheet, and pepperbox rifles (advanced firearms) are not allowed based on the Additional Resources page. It's there to be used during the adventure, and it could be great treasure when using this module for a home game. However, it's not something we wanted to have perpetually available in the organized play campaign. Essentially, no, one cannot repair and then purchase the pepperbox rifle in Pathfinder Society Organized Play.

There are days I wish that the pepperbox rifle wasn't advanced firearms.

Mostly when I get the 'You only can do 2 free actions to reload' GMs and such on my Musket Master/Grenadier. (the same GM said it took a move action to do my extracts and class powers in ADDITION to the standard/swift actions of the powers)

John there is really no reason not to allow advanced firearms with the inclusion of tech in season 6 and with the reload rules that allow black powder firearms the same rate of fire as advanced firearms. I could see limiting advanced firearms if you really had reloading rules for black powder that mirrored real life.

I really don't think it is a good idea to taunt players with treasure
they find but cannot use because of silly rules that make no sense.
In the future either let player use items they find or don't put them in the scenario or module to begin with.

The rules difference between advanced firearms and early firearms is very small, basically just difference in the misfire rate.

While I would normally agree with that sentiment, the module in question was not written with Pathfinder Society Organized Play in mind. As a result, it is held to a different standard and is subject to adaptation to ensure it fits in the campaign.

This is actually a pretty huge difference. That, and the ability to hit vs touch AC at all range bands.

My gunslinger "had a moment" when we found this, and the party cleric even offered to Make Whole on it, but then we realized we had no ammunition for it! I though it was actually sort of neat to find stuff like this that was not usable... Teasers as it were.
