How often may he use it on the same combat check? The wording of Lem's ability suggests as many times as you want, that seems hugely powerful though.

No, Lini can reveal an animal ally to add a d4 to her attack and then reveal an animal ally to add a d4 to her recharge, because these are different steps of the encounter ("Attempt the check" and "Attempt the next check").
RotR Lini is practically OP.
This really seems like an oversight that needs an errata, maybe a misprint even. The ability seems more reasonable if you had to recharge the animal ally.

If not broken, don't fix it. I fully agree that the general "only one use of a power per step" rule clearly limits the usage in both Harsk and Lini cases (as explained above). So no errata needed.
Worse, if there was a non mandatiry errata for that, then you would raise questions on why there is no mandatory erratas on other things, and that would be a nightmare for Vic (an we need Vic to rest peacefully).
