PFS GM-Looking for Advice on Some Scenarios to Run

GM Discussion

Greetings to all!

I am running a young group (new to Pathfinder) and they have completed:

First Steps
Master of the Fallen Fortress
Confirmation

I am looking for some tips on the next several scenarios I can run them through. Now, as a group of younger players they are just getting their feet wet in the table top gaming system so we are trying to get them used to playing before we start up the more RP intensive scenarios. So far, the ones above have worked out just fine.

Is there a resource somewhere that would allow me to search quickly to find scenarios that meet the current goal of more combat focused rather than RP? Levels I am looking for would be 1 to 5, and I have a player that is fascinated by dragons. Anything out there that might get her some face to face time with a young dragon? (that she would live through)

As always, thanks for the input!

Sewer Dragons of Absalom & Frostfur Captives might work for ya.

Liberty's Edge 5/5

The "Devil We Know" series is not a bad one. It's from season 1, so the challenge level is reasonably low. Some of the scenarios are better than others (the first and third are the best). The third scenario has a bit more roleplaying in it, and has some problem-solving as well, but there's still a lot of combat and goal-oriented sorts of stuff. And, they form a story arc, which can be kind of fun.

"Mists of Mwangi", from season 0 (but converted to Pathfinder) is a classic dungeon-crawl type scenario that people seem to like.

None of those give you face time with a dragon, though, alas.

Spoiler:
Night March of Kalkamedes is a good lower lever scenario that technically has a young dragon in it, though it's undead.

The Shades of Ice series has a young white dragon in one of the three scenarios, the second one if I remember correctly.

You might be interested in the Destiny of the Sands line, if I recall it correctly it wasn't too difficult. Part one and two is level 1-5. Part 3 does fall along the level 3-7 area. It does introduce some new rules for part 3

Destiny of the Sands spoiler

Spoiler:
It gives players mythic powers in part 3. Which new rules may slow the game down for players, and a lot of extra combats in it. As well as some very important RP encounters. Players would meet a Dragon during the story... Players would also have to deal with incorporeal and possible chance at being cursed in part 2. Part 1 has a bit of roleplay in it though, but combat is a quick substitute in it, or cleaver skill use. But the whole line does build up to a memorable end and if you run it AFTER running the Devil We Know series it makes a nice story arc as the events in the Devil We Know later tie into the Destiny of the Sands.

EDIT: With that all said. Young players may enjoy the 'epic' powers they gain during part 3.

Rise of the Goblin Guild might be a good one for younger players too, its level 1-5. Had two younger pathfinders play it and went just fine.

The Penumbral Accords is a simple combat scenario from season 2. Easy to run, easy to prepare, easy to play. Levels 1-5

Excellent!

So, perhaps starting with Penumbral Accords, moving to Devil we Know and then Destiny of the Sands. Intrigued by Night March of Kalkamedes for the undead dragon...might be fun!

The Exchange 3/5

I really suggest, since they've been in Absalom, some other good ones are Black Waters, Season 0-6. Very spooky scenario but really quite a bit of good fun, one of my favorite scenarios.

Deliriums Tangle, Season 1-45, has a very fun and iconic final boss and a good bit of fun. Can drone on a bit but with a GM willing to add a little fun in between the lines(without changing anything, just livening things up a bit with dialogue) can really make this scenario pop. This one also takes place in Absalom.

Season 2 is by far my favorite season, the Shades of Ice series are by far one of my favorite series of scenarios printed. I loved playing them and I loved GMing them. Really a great story and over the three of them you travel all across the North.

Another of my favorite scenarios is Murder on the Throaty Mermaid, 2-13. Great murder mystery that takes place out in the middle sea--on a boat.

Strong advice: Do NOT run them through the Devil We Know series until they are at 3rd level or higher.

The sub-tier 1-2 enemies include at least one that is the same as the sub-tier 3-4 enemy, and can, easily, kill one or more party members, if not cause a TPK, if the GM is not alert on following the tactics.

Shipyard Rats:
There is a 3rd level cleric who channels negative for 2d6, up to 6 times per day, with a DC 12 Will save, and one of her main tactics is to channel to harm living... Doesn't take much of that to kill 1st and 2nd level PCs, especially if they don't have a positive channeler who can counteract the damage.

4-05 The Sanos Abduction (tier 3-7) seems to be best suited to new or moderately experienced players. The journey is both linear and interesting. The challenge level is moderate. The NPC's are great, including

Spoiler:
a faerie dragon that joins the party and can later be taken as an improved familiar. The scenario gives you the option to use him to distract the final boss so you can adjust the difficulty. His dialog is tricky, though, requiring extra prep time to rehearse.

Yes, the prep for he of which you speak is true, as it is had to consume THAT MUCH caffeine to properly get into his mindset. Squirrel?
