What kind of background feats, in your opinion, do you think are the most must-have's for what kind of character Class?

Defensive strategist is popular for Dex based or light armored characters that was mentioned in one thread. I think lessons of childira is a powerful feat for survivability.

To me, lessons of childira is about as much as a universal must have feat for any character class for almost any role.

Pragmatic activator or dangerously curious in my opinion are powerful for non-magic user types of character classes to give themselves Buffs or polymorph spells to enhance their fighting abilities.

What are your favorite background feats and why? What is your strategy for using those background feats?

"Traits" are the word you're looking for, I think.

Personal must-haves for me are Fate's Favored for any class that uses luck bonuses (Divine Favor, Half-orcs with Sacred Tattoo, etc.) and Blade of Mercy for getting early-game Intimidate builds working.

Yes, I normally I use the word traits but, I've been corrected both ways. Maybe, I should've mentioned both words.

Great, thanks for the suggestions

As the other thread said, it is traits. If you've been correct to "background feats" then that correction was wrong. If you look at any source where there are traits it's pretty obvious.

That being said. As was mentioned in the thread that spawned this one, Defensive Strategist is awesome for characters with high dex and/or the canny defense ability.

The init +2 is a good trait.

If perception isn't a class skill, I always pick a trait that'll make it so.

I usually try to pick traits that either give me skills I want as a class skill, or that swap out ability scores for traits (such as bruising intellect swapping cha for int for intimidate).

Seeker is a great trait for anyone who does not have perception as a class skill. (+1 trait bonus, Perception is class skill)

Also, Reactionary is great as well, however I prefer Warrior of Old or Elven Reflexes for my Elf and Half Elf respectively. Frees up combat trait slot for anatomist or armor expert. (Crit [ab]user and Non fighter in armor).

Ambush Training is great for a sneaky guy getting in combat early. Less useful for most players however as we rarely get surprise round actions.

Any trait that gives you a class skill you do not already have but plan to use is great too. (Perception, Sense Motive, UMD, Acrobatics, Stealth etc)

Someone has misinformed you. They are never known as feats, as they are traits.

Moving on.

Find interesting guides to traits here, and here.

Scarab Sages

Fate's favoured for luck bonuses.

student of philosophy/bruising intellect/ clever wordplay and pragmatic activator for using intelligence rather than charisma.

Toothy for a bite attack.

But as blackbloodtroll says, there are guides for traits (and as already said they are traits not background feats)

Think of this thread as a poll. I was curious to know what were the most popular traits for what classes, occasions or strategies.

I appreciate the documents for the traits and what they are usefull for; However, only the second one I can open. I do not have a Google account.

Years ago universities were telling their students not to use google.com. The reason was because of the amount of viruses, such as in their pictures, Google was full of at that time.

Thanks again for all your advice given, ciao

One more thing, I'll keep in mind that they are called traits. Not background feats, thank you all.
