Tendriculos Questions

Rise of the Runelords

Liberty's Edge

I have a couple of a questions on tendriculos' attacks. Does the paralysis goes over on any bite or tentacle hit or is it only after they are grabbed and the next round the grab continues (not counting the fun of being swallowed whole)?

My reading would be neither. The melee attacks - both bite and tentacle - list only grab as a feature not paralysis. And when I read the creature description it refers to paralysis in the context of an acid reservoir:

"The creature is quick to swallow any prey it happens to catch in its vines, relying upon the acid-filled reservoir in its trunk to finish off prey that may still have a bit of fight left in it. This acid not only consumes organic material with shocking ease, but also contains a powerful paralytic enzyme that further reduces a creature’s chance of escape once it’s been gulped down by the plant." Bestiary 2, p. 259

You take acid damage and have to save vs. paralysis every round while trying to hack your way out of its "stomach." Fun times.

Thanks, that makes since to me. An animal companion did get swallowed but they cut the tendriculos down quickly and got her out.
