So in the final Jade Regent book, Shojinawa Ito wants to possess Ameiko and use her to put himself on the throne. But since his malevolence ability works like magic jar at CL 10th, wouldn't that mean Ameiko would eventually regain control over her body at some point since she'd be able to make a Will saving throw every 10 hours? If, say, the worst case scenario happens: PCs are neutralized, Ito manages to take over her body and escape the Imperial Shrine, and somehow manages to become the new ruler of Minkai. How would he be able to rule if there's always a chance every 10 hours that Ameiko just breaks free and wrecks his day?
I ask this because I think it would be a really cool twist for the PCs if they survive and the GM extends the campaign, because even if the Jade Regent is gone, now they'd have to fight the person who they might have considered a friend/lover...well, the person controlling her body anyway. Cue stereotypical speech of "I know you're still in there!" And "the power of friendship breaks all evil!"(*cough*protectionfromevil*cough*) :P

The honest answer is that he's kinda bonkers and hasn't thought that far ahead. Shojinawa actually managing to take Minkai would be a nigh-impossible longshot.
It is a vastly more likely that Shojinawa would wind up effectively handing Ameiko over the Jade Regent - or if he teleported off for a temporary life of debauchery, leave her stranded somewhere very strange.
Granted, some evil god might also step in to "lock" the guy into Ameiko's body, thereby getting around his built-in time limit. The power of GM Fiat makes many things possible.

I'd imagine if he got around the whole Ameiko being able to possibly break free every 10 hours problem and escapes Imperial Shrine, he could very well succeed in the long term....or at the very least, have the means to try. Assuming there isn't a party of vengeful high level PCs on his tail he could escape and perhaps raise an undead army, which wouldn't be hard to do in the middle of a civil war. Although at that point, a three way brawl between rebels, Jade Regent loyalists, and a centuries old necromancer would be devastating for Minkai...and be fertile ground for a potential campaign, perhaps with new PCs!

Feeblemind her first. She's a spellcaster. He's immune to mind-affecting. He casts it on himself, and she's hosed. Even if she makes the save, he can repossess her the same round, and she'll fail that save, too, most likely.
Note that Holy Word will likely drop him instantly at the PC's level if he possesses her, and shove him out of her body. An Anti-Magic Shell would do the same thing. If they know she's possessed, Shoji is hilariously vulnerable from many angles.

Doesn't Magic Jar require a Will save, though? Feeblemind wouldn't really help with that, or am I missing something?
I dunno if it would work since he's a ghost, but maybe Parasitic Soul would be a more permanent solution? This is, of course, assuming that the paladin or cleric in the party hasn't holy smacked him out of Ameiko yet.
Aw man, the more I talk about this the more interested I am in doing a seperate campaign that's post-Jade Regent where everything in Minkai just goes down the toilet: the original PCs are dead, Ameiko is dead (her soul, anyway), Ito is using her body and a new undead army to wage war on the Jade Regent, who was given the divine mandate in the brief moment when all remaining heirs were dead. So now we got oni and loyalists fighting undead fighting rebels while Renshii Meida plots to put her unborn son on the throne. Meanwhile, opportunistic Chu Ye plots to invade the unstable Minkai in a land grab, and Jirukarakaza the underworld dragon goes on and tries to seize the treasures of Hiyosai and the surrounding regions. And against all odds, the new PCs have to fix all of this.
Sorry for rambling but man this thread already gave me ideas. Game of Thrones: Tian Xia Edition, anyone?
