these are probably dumb questions but I need to know these things fer sure
1. how does one aquire or check off ships, we did our first scenario, and acquired the class 3 ship sea chanty, but it says that seizing a ship doesn't allow us to check it off on the fleet, so does that mean we are only using that ship for that scenario, and that we go back to the merchantman at the end?
2. I also wondered about how the whole on the ship and commanding the ship worked, like as far as I could tell, even though we weren't at the same location, since our ship wasn't anchored during that first scenario, which is island hopping, then each players turn had them commanding the ship correct? and so if it is anchored to a location, then that means you are only commanding the ship if you are on the location its anchored too?

1. Correct. You only get check off a ship when a scenario or adventure rewards is a ship feet. It will say something like "Gain a Class 0 ship feat." And each time you start a scenario you choose form a ship checked off on your fleet card. So the next scenario the Sea Chanty won't be checked off on your fleet card, so you won't be able to choose it.
2. Correct. If your ship isn't anchored, when it is your turn you are commanding the ship. At any point during your turn, anyone at your location is on the ship, and can move when you move.
If your ship is anchored, anyone at the ship's location is on the ship. At any point during your turn you are at the ship's location, you are commanding the ship.
